Man, there are so many ridiculous apps in facebook now. There was a time when this was not so, and everything was so much more clean, elegant and respectable. Now that they've opened up their API to allow any joe schmoe to develop an App, it has become not only a popularity contest to see how many "friends" you have, but also to see how many apps you have and what your "rank" is on them. See the Skiier vs Snowboarder app, the vampire app, the super poke app, the gift app, the Oregon trail app, what is the point of these other than to waste more time on the internet getting nothing accomplished.
Now this may seem a little hypocritcal as playing an MMO or a flash game would essentially produce the same end result: nothing. However, I disagree, these apps only cultivate a culture of "get more apps or fail at facebook", whereas an MMO or flash game can give the user the feeling of success upon conquering a new objective or receiving a beneficial reward to make future objective easier. So, I have decided to not install any of these apps and keep my page boring looking. Simple. Boring. Right.
